A Self-Exploration Workbook to Help Children Develop Healthy and Effective Coping Skills – Everyone has a bad day sometimes. When this happens, children need solutions to help them get along with others, feel better about themselves, create better family relationships, and/or improve their schoolwork. I Can Cope! is a self-exploration workbook that helps children to learn about and apply feeling, thinking, doing, and talking coping skills to their everyday lives. As they complete their personal self-exploration book, children will learn that healthy coping means:
- Believing that one has options for dealing with life’s circumstances
- Developing accessible strategies to balance one’s need for equilibrium
- Taking responsibility for the status of one’s environment
- Having a process to critically and independently assess the effectiveness of chosen coping choices.
Each of the 8 chapters in the I Can Cope! workbook contain an overview which gives the information necessary to conduct the lesson, including goals to be attained in each session; materials needed, and step-by-step lesson description of how to use the information in the workbook to attain the goals set forth for each chapter. The workbook also contains a pre- and post-workbook evaluation inventory for completion by parents or teachers. The completed books can be taken home and shared with parents.
The included CD allows the user to quickly reproduce the student workbook in black and white or in color. PDFs on CD are level 1 Whiteboard Compatible.
