90 Instructional Outlines & 500 Real-Life Activities!
Aligned with state and national standards, including California’s K-12 Academic Content Standards, New York’s State Learning Standards, and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), this book was developed to assist K-5 teachers with teaching English/Language Arts content to students with disabilities. Teachers are provided 90 instructional outlines in the specific skill areas of Reading (word identification, comprehension), Written Expression (prewriting, writing, post writing), and Oral Language (listening, speaking). The strategies and supports will allow many students with disabilities to participate in the instructional program offered in general education programs, including a greater potential for academic success on state mandated assessments.
This book consists of more than 360 teaching ideas focusing on specific skill areas related to English/Language Arts, as well as a correlated set of 360 specific and varied techniques to provide appropriate instructional differentiation for students with disabilities. In addition, each instructional outline has five recommendations for integrating real-life skills into the academic content covered by the strategies. These suggestions are organized according to five domains:
- Career Awareness/Work Related
- Home and Family
- Leisure Time
- Community Living
- Emotional/Physical Health
