Ages 4 & up. Recognizing the feelings of others is a vital skill for all social interaction. Although words, tone of voice, and gestures are also important, the most reliable way to learn the feelings of others is through observing facial expressions. Many children, including those on the autism spectrum, have trouble “reading” feelings from observing facial expressions. The About Faces Workbook contains 52 images of faces. Each face is followed by a quotation representing the feeling expressed and open-ended questions to help children link expressions and feelings. The workbook helps children recognize, express, and explore their feelings and the feelings of others.
